DIY French Manicure

So, I had seen a commercial for nail pens the other day, and thought that they sounded like a great idea.
BUT I was not going to pay the ridiculous shipping and handling they tack on for no reason.
Well lucky for me I happen to see similar pens at Target.
So I picked myself up the white one to try to give myself a French manicure.

The Sally Hansen pen was priced just under $6.
Just prime the tip by pushing it in a few times to get the polish ready.

The OPI color is Bubble Bath.

Not too bad. Apply one coat of the pink. Let dry. Apply two coats of the white allowing drying time in between. Cover with clear coat.

I had the other polishes in my polish collection. So for under $6 you can DIY your own French manicure many times. I think that's pretty good. The only down side is trying to do the other hand when I am right handed. So practice will probably make perfect.

Goodwill Goodies

I had seen somewhere that a near-by Goodwill had some really great stuff.
I don't typically shop Goodwill, but thought I would try it out.
So once I picked up the kids from preschool we headed out to the Perimeter Mall Goodwill location.
If I didn't have the kids with me, I could have been more thorough in my search.
Everyone who worked there was nice, and everything was well organized.
Here are a few of the finds.
All of the kids clothes are just under 3 bucks.
Not bad!

Janie and Jack polo for my nephew. Gap jeans, Lacoste polo, and Gap PJ's.

Crewcuts shirt, Lilly Pulitzer shirt, 2 Gymboree shirts, and a Ralph Lauren skort.
I think the kids got some good stuff. I will have to go back!

Target Treasures

Today we took a trip to Target to get just two things. As usual we ended up with more.
I think this is a common problem for most! :)
Anywho I found a couple great items for not a lot of money.
Adorable Christmas Aprons for cookie making.

Sorry the picture is so blurry! This stocking is adorable, and soft!
Orla Kiely Display. I love this brand, and now it's at Target!

The case I bought.

The inside.

Cute leg warmers for Juju.
The majority of my discoveries were in the One Spot at Target.
I was super excited to find the Orla Kiely bags! Last year when Matthew was taking soccer, I saw a mom with one of these bags. I looked online to find them, and they were a little pricey. Also, I really didn't need a bag. So I was tickled pink to find a cute case!

Dollar Store Pumpkin Costume

Today Juju and I went to the Dollar Tree to look at their Halloween decor.
We got a bunch of cool ravens, skeletons, and chair covers.
While I was putting the chair covers on the kids play chairs, Juju decided to take one off and try to wear it.
A light bulb went on, and voila a costume was created.
The chair cover. 20 in. x 21 in.

Unfolded

I took one of Juju's shirts to use as a template for the hole placement.
Juju's shirt is a kid's XS, so this pumpkin has room for bigger kids!
After I cut the openings, I turned the pumpkin inside out and sewed by the new opening seams.
I sewed the seams by the openings because the stitching was falling apart by the holes. If you don't sew you could probably glue them. I worry the pumpkin would fall apart without reinforcing the seams.
Of course by the time I had made the costume Julia would not put it on!
My awesome son modeling the pumpkin when his sister would not.

I think the great thing about this costume is the versatility! It has it's own puffiness so you don't have to worry about wearing tons of padding underneath to make it a pumpkin shape. It also has tons of room if you need to wear warmer clothes underneath if you live in a cooler region.
I also fashioned a steam headband from felt and fold over elastic I had lying around. So for a buck, not bad!
