New Year's Eve

We had all been battling some form of sickness that required us all to be on antibiotics.
It has been a long suffering sickness that we are glad to be finally seeing leave our house.
Needless to say, we had a low key New Year's Eve.

Since we've been sick and the weather has been ick we didn't have a lot of options.

The Silver Platter

I had been searching hi and low for a silver platter to use to create a bar area.
I looked on Ebay, and the prices were decent, but shipping made them not.
I searched at antique stores, and couldn't find the style I wanted.
I happened to check out the local Salvation Army, and eyed this beauty.

For only $5 I could not pass this up.

Once polished, I could tell there was more damage than I had predicted. I figured I could repair it.

I had found a silver platting system on Amazon, and thought I would give it a try.

This is my after. While the system did not make my plate brand new, it did cover some spots.

While the platter is not in the best of shape, it still makes me happy, and maybe I learned a little about fixing stuff up.

New Camera and a Visit to Lights of Life

Today David surprised me with an early Christmas gift.
It's a Canon EOS T5i! So I was pretty happy!
I have a lot to learn with this camera. It can do much more, and I want to be able to take great photos.

Seeing Santa!

David's Parents' church hosted a breakfast with Santa this morning.
This year really was so much fun with the kids.
They are really getting into the fun, and it is so cute to see them excited!
We got there early, and ate breakfast with the grandparents.
Then we started the festivities.

Christmas Decor 2013

I finally got around to decorating, AND taking pictures of our Christmas decor.
I never have a particular plan when putting it all out, so every year is a little different.

Goodwill Goodies

I had seen somewhere that a near-by Goodwill had some really great stuff.
I don't typically shop Goodwill, but thought I would try it out.
So once I picked up the kids from preschool we headed out to the Perimeter Mall Goodwill location.
If I didn't have the kids with me, I could have been more thorough in my search.
Everyone who worked there was nice, and everything was well organized.
Here are a few of the finds.
All of the kids clothes are just under 3 bucks.
Not bad!

Crewcuts shirt, Lilly Pulitzer shirt, 2 Gymboree shirts, and a Ralph Lauren skort.

I think the kids got some good stuff. I will have to go back!
