DIY Glitter Candle Holders

The day after Christmas the family went to Target to get Matthew a bike.
While there, I spotted some candle holders on sale.
I have had them everywhere in the house. Not really knowing where to put them.
They finally made it in the basement, where they have stayed for some time.
Today I decided to jazz them up for the Fall, and get them out of the basement.
I taped off sections for the Mod Podge to be applied.
My Supplies.

Love Martha Stewart Glitter!

Painted a thin layer of Mod Podge.

Sprinkled glitter on top of the Mod Podge.

Juju eying the glitter.

I used a flexible cutting board for easy glitter clean up and saving.

The finished product on the dinning table...not in the basement!

Dollar Store Pumpkin Costume

Today Juju and I went to the Dollar Tree to look at their Halloween decor.
We got a bunch of cool ravens, skeletons, and chair covers.
While I was putting the chair covers on the kids play chairs, Juju decided to take one off and try to wear it.
A light bulb went on, and voila a costume was created.
The chair cover. 20 in. x 21 in.

Unfolded

I took one of Juju's shirts to use as a template for the hole placement.
Juju's shirt is a kid's XS, so this pumpkin has room for bigger kids!
After I cut the openings, I turned the pumpkin inside out and sewed by the new opening seams.
I sewed the seams by the openings because the stitching was falling apart by the holes. If you don't sew you could probably glue them. I worry the pumpkin would fall apart without reinforcing the seams.
Of course by the time I had made the costume Julia would not put it on!
My awesome son modeling the pumpkin when his sister would not.

I think the great thing about this costume is the versatility! It has it's own puffiness so you don't have to worry about wearing tons of padding underneath to make it a pumpkin shape. It also has tons of room if you need to wear warmer clothes underneath if you live in a cooler region.
I also fashioned a steam headband from felt and fold over elastic I had lying around. So for a buck, not bad!

Beautiful Fall Day Trip

Today seemed like a great day to take a trip to North Georgia.
We decided to go to Burt's Farm to check out their HUGE pumpkins.
After the pumpkins we went to Amicalola Falls.
It is literally right down the street from the farm, so it was a no brainer.
What a lovely fall day with the fam!
HUGE pumpkins!

Many varieties!

Juju not gonna do it!

Riding the tractor!

Lots of gourds, and squash.

Juju picking her pumpkins out.

Fall Family Fun Day

Today we went to David's parents' church for their fall festival.
We enjoyed games, and food.
The kids had a great time.
Surprisingly they did not take a nap after!
Best pic I could get of my dad with the kids.

What do you have, Juju?

Fun with Grandpa.

Matthew is a champ at the swing!

Juju is adorable!

Tuquoise Chairs

Since I was a little girl, I have always rearranged things.
I would spend all night going through every nook and cranny to rid my space of items not needed.
It certainly would make me tired the next day, but I enjoyed the feeling of ridding my room of unnecessary clutter.
Today I found myself jonesing for a change.
My children's play table seemed to be the ticket.
I bought Krylon Blue Ocean Breeze spray paint.
I thought this would liven up the room.
So I sprayed the chairs, and voila color. So glad I did this.
I think I will try to find a stencil to paint a B on the top of the table in the same color paint.
Right now I am excited to add a pop of color.
I am sure I will find more things to paint tomorrow, but for tonight I am done. :)

Roswell Mill

We visited the old Roswell Mill today.
For someone who had lived in Roswell her whole life, this was the first time I had been.
A photo Matthew took of us.

Juju tolerating my picture taking.

Matthew insisted on helping!

Uh guys, no trespassing!

Looking at old machinery.

Rusted.

Waterfall

Top of waterfall.

Exploring.

This is a bridge, right?

Cheese!

No, Matthew! Don't go in there!
David said that when I was child most people did not go to visit the Roswell Mill....so probably why I had never been. About 9 years ago they started to revitalize the area. It was so cool to see this history of Roswell. Like going back in time. Just weird how nature starts to take over once you stop using something!
